Ruth Holcomb Richards, age 93, of Hockessin, DE passed away Feb. 4, 2019. Born in Piney Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Willie Neal Holcomb and Lelia Cox Holcomb. She was the wife of the late William J. Richards who died in 1994. She enjoyed many years as a wife, mother and homemaker and was employed in the offices of the NVF Co. in Kennett Square, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a past member of Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She later became a member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church after moving to Delaware. She loved entertaining in her home, especially family dinners. She also enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, cooking, decorating special occasion cakes, collecting antique milk glass and above all, doing things for others. She had a generous and compassionate spirit. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by brothers Grover Holcomb and Luther Holcomb. She is survived by her brother Ralph Holcomb, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Holcomb and Peggy Holcomb, son John Richards, daughter Betsy Marsey (Richard), grandchildren Peter Marsey (Lisa), Virginia Marsey and fiancée, Chris Trecker, Jessica Richards (Max), Caitlin Richards and great grandchildren Cassius, Julian, William and Emilie plus several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 3PM on Thursday February 7, 2019 at the Auditorium at Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Rd. Hockessin, DE 19707. A visitation will be held at 2:30 before the service. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association P.O.
